An good overview post by Guy Harrison about "Google’s Newly Percolated Big Data Technologies". For those of us in Big Data, most know that Google's "BigTable and MapReduce formed the basis for open source Hadoop." Guy explains how Google has moved beyond this and Dremel has now "spawned a couple of open source imitators such as Apache Drill".  Therefore, it is worth watching what Google does with BigQuery as we expect a lot of the Hadoop ecosystem to follow.
