I am attending the Strata conference this week and today was the JumpStart day.  A couple of interesting tidbits:

1. "Hadoop was dubbed as the most popular big data source between January 2011 and January 2012"

2. "Hadoop Hive, the SQL interface to Hadoop MapReduce, represented 60 percent of all Hadoop-based connectors"

Also, Mary Jo Foley at ZDNet writes about Microsoft's Hadoop Roadmap.  Microsoft is trying very hard to integrate Hadoop with SQL Server and Azure.  Lots of energy going here and will be interesting to see the results…
