Going geospatial with Tableau and Teradata OLAP

I just tried out the Tableau beta (mentioned previously) that works with the Teradata OLAP Connector. It’s pretty slick. Nice addition to the list of supported MDX front end client applications for Teradata OLAP.

There are two visible changes in Tableau. One is on the data connection page, where Teradata OLAP Connector is now on the list of sources:

If you pick Teradata OLAP Connector, you get one (and only one) dialog box for choosing your cube:

Once the connection is set up, I could use all of the features in Tableau. I was testing with Foodmart, and I was pleased to find that my data was automatically geocoded so I could use maps. In maybe 10 clicks, I got myself to a filled map:

No cube changes necessary. Looking forward to spending more time with this.
