Vancouver, BC – September 19, 2006 – Simba Technologies Inc., the leader in OLE DB for OLAP, XML for Analysis and MDX Language software development kits (SDKs) and data connectivity solutions, announced today that it is working to add support for Microsoft’s upcoming Excel 2007 Pivot Tables within its acclaimed SimbaProvider SDK. SimbaProvider is used by independent software vendors worldwide for building MDX Language, OLE DB for OLAP (ODBO) and XML for Analysis (XMLA) connectivity within their products.

Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables is widely regarded as the most pervasive business intelligence (BI) application used by businesses today. Excel Pivot Tables functionality is used to query data and generate reports using the MDX Language on a variety of data by business users across the globe.

Microsoft’s upcoming Excel 2007 Pivot Tables incorporates even greater BI functionality. Most notably for BI will be Microsoft’s use of advanced MDX Language to support new and enhanced query and reporting functionality within the product.

SimbaProvider SDK allows independent software vendors (ISVs) to have Excel Pivot Tables connect to their OLAP or multi-dimensional data source through OLE DB for OLAP and the MDX Language. The upcoming version of Simba’s SDK will work with Excel 2007 Pivot Tables out of the box, when Microsoft expects to release the next version of its Office Suite in early 2007.

“Microsoft is leading the charge in advancing the MDX Language standard by incorporating enhancements within its products,” said Amyn Rajan, President and CEO of Simba Technologies Inc. “Simba is quick to follow suit by incorporating these enhancements within our products too. Excel 2007 Pivot Tables use much more advanced MDX Language than previous versions of Excel. Simba is working to extend our SimbaProvider SDK so that when Excel 2007 Pivot Tables connects to an OLE DB for OLAP provider built using SimbaProvider, everything works smoothly. Our customers rely on Simba for dealing with interoperability issues around the MDX Language, OLE DB for OLAP and XML for Analysis.”

Interoperability is critical in today’s BI marketplace, as companies have numerous data systems and applications with which they use to manage and make sense out of business data. Companies invest considerably in business processes and logic to mine and access data from systems using a variety of tools. Because of its accessibility and prevalence, one of these tools is Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables.

Simba’s long-standing experience in standards-based data connectivity has made it the choice of many leading ISVs for adding MDX Language, OLE DB for OLAP, XML for Analysis and OLAP. Simply put, Simba ensures data connectivity and interoperability. SimbaProvider is the only SDK that allows ISVs to add MDX Language, OLE DB for OLAP and XML for Analysis to their proprietary OLAP and multi-dimensional data sources, ensuring connectivity to products like Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables.
