JMP Software from SAS is designed for dynamic data visualization and analytics on the desktop. With JMP® products, you can connect to a variety of data sources including ODBC and JDBC compliant data sources to explore data, spot relationships and trends, and dig into areas of interest.
In this blog, Simba’s Solutions Engineering Team shows you how to connect JMP to your Salesforce data using the Salesforce ODBC Driver. Simba’s ODBC and JDBC drivers for Salesforce.com enable standard SQL-92 access directly to data, without extraction, via Salesforce’s native web services Application Programming Interface (API).
INSTALL the Simba Salesforce ODBC driver on Windows using this installation guide. After the installation is complete, configure the Data source name using Salesforce account credentials and security token.
Prerequisites
- JMP software installed to your Windows
- Salesforce ODBC driver installed and DSN configured on your Windows
Steps

- In JMP Desktop, click File > Database > Query Builder …
- In JMP Desktop, click File > Database > Query Builder …
- Select the connection or create a new connection
- Create a new connection by using Machine Data Source
- Select a Machine Data Source and confirm the configuration in the Simba Salesforce ODBC Driver Connection Dialog
- Data will load in Schemas – Tables after the connection is successful.
- Select Tables for Query in this dialog to import the data.
You are now all set to visualize and get actionable insights from your Salesforce data!
