Vancouver, BC – September 9, 2008 – Simba Technologies Inc., industry’s source for standards-based relational and multi-dimensional data connectivity solutions, announced today that it has partnered with Cognos, an IBM company (NYSE: IBM), to develop new data access capabilities, integrating IBM Cognos’ products with multi-vendor solutions. As a Cognos Partner Program member, Simba gains complete access to IBM Cognos resources, software and support to build high performance SQL and MDX Language interoperability between IBM Cognos’ products and Simba’s data connectivity solutions that are deployed by leading data vendors worldwide.
“Collaborating with Cognos to enhance data access will play a strategic role in providing users with wider data access using Cognos products,” said Amyn Rajan, CEO of Simba Technologies Inc. “This is a testament to both companies’ commitment to open data connectivity for powerful and actionable business intelligence. For IBM Cognos customers, this means they can attain greater accessibility to data in multi-vendor data sources, providing greater synergies for interoperability and data access that will transform their user experience.”
Simba’s innovative technology has gained the company a reputation as the pioneering leader in data connectivity. Simba has introduced a series of industry firsts in data connectivity, beginning with pioneering the development of the first standards-based ODBC drivers with Microsoft in 1992 and subsequently the industry’s first ODBC SDK and JDBC SDK. Since this time, the company has created many other breakthrough technologies, such as the world’s first licensable Multi-dimensional Expression (MDX) engine for OLAP data connectivity and reporting, and the first SQL to MDX conversion technology packaged as an easy to deploy driver. Today, Simba’s MDX technologies are based upon Microsoft’s MDX 2005 Query Language, enabling native data connectivity with the latest reporting and analytics tools available.
“Simba’s history of innovation translates directly into our data connectivity products and technologies that are embedded by many of the world’s largest software companies,” said Rajan.
Many leading Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) choose to use Simba’s data technologies to harness Simba’s data connectivity expertise, save time, gain interoperability and benefit from Simba’s wide industry adoption. To enable connectivity between a multitude of data sources and an ever-increasing list of applications, Simba offers data drivers/providers and Software Development Kits (SDKs) for various data access standards, including ODBC, JDBC, XMLA and ODBO. With Simba’s proven technology, users can achieve seamless integration between products, leveraging existing technologies and processes to enable key decision makers to gain greater insight into business intelligence.
“Simba is a valued addition to the Cognos Partner Program,” said Mel Zeledon, VP of Global Alliances at Cognos. “Working together with Simba will open new opportunities for Cognos and will provide our customers with greater integration with other vendors’ products. This collaboration will fuse our industry expertise in analytical applications with Simba’s expert knowledge in data connectivity to ensure wider data access options for our customers.”
Further information on the proposed solutions is not available at this time.
