Vancouver, BC – June 8, 2010 – Simba Technologies Inc., industry’s source for standards-based relational and multi-dimensional data connectivity solutions, announced today the release of SimbaProvider OLAP SDK 4.3 – the industry leading Software Development Kit (SDK) for implementing OLE DB for OLAP (ODBO) and XML for Analysis (XMLA) data connectivity that connects business intelligence and analytics products like Microsoft Excel and SAP BusinessObjects Voyager to data sources.
SimbaProvider OLAP SDK 4.3 supports 64-bit OLE DB for OLAP (ODBO) for data connectivity with the latest generation of applications like Microsoft Excel 2010. Microsoft added 64-bit support in Excel 2010, now offering Excel in two versions – 32-bit and 64-bit – the latter being used with 64-bit operating environments.
Native 64-bit ODBO data providers, such as those that can be built with SimbaProvider OLAP SDK, provide increased performance and scalability. 64-bit technology enables greater access to memory, which in turn allows faster access to data. With a 64-bit ODBO data provider, users are better able to perform analysis on larger datasets and more quickly gain insight from data. SimbaProvider OLAP SDK has supported 64-bit MDX query language server development since early 2006.
“SimbaProvider OLAP SDK 4.3 supports native 64-bit development end-to-end,” said Russ Tront, Simba’s Director of Product Management. “Now that Microsoft has extended the ODBO specification to include 64-bit clients coinciding with the release of Excel 2010, SimbaProvider customers can fully leverage the toolkit to build native, 64-bit ODBO data providers coupled with Simba’s 64-bit MDX Query Language Engine for a complete 64-bit data connectivity solution. No other ODBO/MDX SDK offers native 64-bit support.”
Other notable enhancements to SimbaProvider OLAP SDK include enhanced development tools and a new GUI-based MDX query language testing application that supports 64-bit ODBO data provider development.
